Who we are
Summit English Academy is located in Banpo-dong, Seoul South Korea. Summit English is not a typical "cram school." We believe that students can learn effectively while having fun at the same time. We employ various methods to motivate our students, using tools that we picked up in our many years of teaching. We are committed to a student-centered approach to learning, helping students develop critical thinking skills, promoting independence in the classroom and at home, and mentoring, not lecturing students. Furthermore, the teacher should be able collaborate with coworkers/ staff bilingual in English & Korean in order to communicate with coworkers and parents effectively.
Who we are looking for
We are in need of teachers experienced in teaching an American based curriculum, who are fun and energetic, with a positive mindset. Experience teaching and managing younger students (kindergarten, 1st, 2nd grade) is a plus.
We teach reading and writing skills, and how to analyze and think critically. The teacher should motivate students, fostering personal relationships with them. Furthermore, the teacher should be bilingual in English & Korean in order to communicate with coworkers and parents.
Job Description
1. Full Time Position starting date is February 5, 2025. Training needed in January
2. Teach multiple subjects (literature, grammar, writing, novel) but the layout is all given to you
3. Work Hours: three hour blocks or two hours and 30 minute blocks, (Work hours are subject to change, depending on the grade you’re teaching.)
4. Update parents about their child’s progress (speaking Korean is necessary)
5. Grading and administrative work
Job requirements
1. Previous teaching experience using the American based curriculum with a minimum of 2 years
2. University major in English literature, humanity, psychology, and early childhood education is preferred
3. The ability to analyze literature and teach writing, having strong academic skills
4. Passion for teaching and a mentor for students
5. Great organizational skills with a strong work ethic
6. Be legally able to work in Korea with an F 4, F-5 visa with a 4 year university degree in liberal arts and majors from Native English speaking countries. Native Koreans with English fluency are also welcomed
7. Have paperwork ready to submit (Apostilled FBI background check, apostilled degree, etc)
