[Job Purpose]
The purpose of the Director of Communications – North
Asia – APAC is to ensure effective communication across the North Asia Cluster
by developing and implementing communications strategies targeted to employees,
customers, industry, local authorities, media and the community. Reporting to the Vice President of
Communications for the APAC region, the role is based in Seoul as part of the
APAC Communications team. The scope of the position encompasses the management
of internal and external communications, government relations, digital and
social media and global sport partnerships in liaison with the APAC Comms
Centres of Excellence(CoE).
[Key Accountabilities] • To develop and implement a cohesive and
innovative cluster communications plan aligned with North Asia’s and APAC’s business goals and the DP World culture, and values. • To raise staff engagement through internal
communications channels by working on the development and optimisation of internal communication tools, including the intranet, email newsletters, and employee
events. • To develop media
relationships with key media to enhance a strong brand awareness and
reputation. • To monitor issues, negative
commentaries and comments across all media platforms and recommend strategies
to manage them. • To manage and leverage a
variety of digital platforms and channels to communicate the company’s
activities and interests. • To build capability for
delivering content internally and externally (for intranet, website, media
releases etc) • To provide strategic
guidance and council to the Executive Vice President of North Asia and the Cluster
Leadership team.
• To manage the global
partnership events (DP World Tour, McLaren partnership etc) in close
collaboration with the North Asia Commercial team and the CoE leads of the APAC Comms team. • Present solutions to customers and internal senior management when required • Continually research the current and emerging automation/technologies to incorporate into new business proposal or to propose changes in existing warehouse or activities where suitable
[Qualifications & Experience] • The basic requirement is at least 12 years of
experience in Communications management – ideally, in a B2B and multi-national
context • Essential professional capabilities are the
proven ability to develop communications strategies and to plan and execute effective
communications campaigns. It would be extremely useful to have specific skills
in managing the digital media which are transforming the global media landscape • Commercial acumen and the ability to deliver
against agreed objectives and deadlines within budgetary guidelines is necessary. The successful candidate will need an understanding of how large companies operate and the
ability to act cross-functionally, with good stakeholder management
skills and ideally some experience of rolling out change management/transformation
communications programmes • Outstanding writing and editing skills with the ability to create clear,
compelling content for diverse audiences. • Strong inter-personal skills are needed, as the role requires the
ability to create and sustain relationships across a diverse range of internal
constituencies • Accomplished skills in communication and team working are necessary. As
is a global outlook and sensitivity to cross-cultural differences, and a
positive perspective on issues of sustainability, diversity and inclusiveness • The
successful candidate will be a self-starter, who proactively identifies issues
and opportunities with minimal supervision. Excellent multi-tasking skills, with the ability to perform duties outside of
scope of work, when necessary. Someone who brings passion to the role in order
build, create and make things better. Possessing strong influencing/motivating skills and the ability to drive delivery through others • Education to tertiary level is required. A high level of proficiency in
both spoken and written English and Korean is essential • Strong understanding of the media landscape and local media contacts in
South Korea
