Manage
all aspects of operational supply for Korean manufacturing and maintain
continuity of supply to manufacturing cells to maximize service levels
Continuously
improve processes used to plan/buy inbound material and reduce total costs and
non-value added activity
Lead
team of buyers who manage the day to day operational relationships with key
suppliers.
1.
Develop and implement plans to improve supplier performance (delivery, buffer,
sea freight position) across sites for their assigned suppliers
2.
Organize regular business reviews with key suppliers and act as point of
communications with nominated vendors on behalf of all sites.
3.
Identify risks to supply continuity and develop and implement plans to mitigate
these risks.
4. Maintain
supply continuity to manufacturing cells from external suppliers.
5.
Maximize customer service levels from suppliers to manufacturing cells across
multiple locations.
6.
Diagnose causes of supply interruptions and report reasons to drive continuous
improvement and elimination of root causes with local material control teams.
7.
Reduce critical supplier lead times to improve flexibility and responsiveness.
8.
Minimize supplier late deliveries and overdues
9.
Ensure compliance to all common supply management practices (tools, procedures,
measures, processes) used across sites.
10.
Manage communication to vendors (planning, business reviews, buffer stocking,
overdues feedback) to improve supplier performance and feedback to operations.
11.
Ensure that the transition to production of new products is achieved with
minimum leadtime, minimum disruption and minimum obsolescence.
12.
Processing and elimination of invoicing and payment problems with suppliers.
13. The
role of Lead Buyer within a site operations is to act as purchasing manager for
the site and ensure that these are managed to improve all aspects of
performance.
Education
Level
Graduate
level qualifications in engineering discipline or in manufacturing fields.
Purchasing
management or Senior Buyer experience gained within a manufacturing
environment.
Relevant
Previous Experience
8~12 years of experience within a dynamic lean manufacturing environment and
experience of working with suppliers of engineering products and services.
Operational/engineering
management experience and knowledge of wide variety of manufacturing
technologies and processes. Eg machining, electrical/electronics, casting,
fabrication, motors/drives, seals, bearings, injection moulding.

Fluent
written and verbal English communication skills
Able to
diagnose complex operational problems (delivery, quality, capacity, financial,
organizational) within suppliers and effect timely solutions and improvement
plans across organizations.
Experience
of implementing continuous process improvement and coordinating supplier
development activity to improve capability.

Very
good communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills.
Must be
tenacious and able to manage high profile/pressure issues.
In
depth knowledge of supply chain techniques, delivery/order mechanisms and
computerized manufacturing systems including Kanban/MRP/e procurements.
