BEAMS, the name of our company, is an acronym of “Biotechnology for Enzyme and Applied
Molecular Science.” BEAMS Biotechnology was founded as an independent company in 2006,
succeeding the tradition of KOSCO Enzyme, the fi rst manufacturer and distributor of restriction
enzymes in Korea, 1985. BEAMS took over the facility of DCC-BIONET, a subsidiary under
the OCI Co., Ltd. (formerly known as the DC Chemical Co., Ltd.). BEAMS Bio is a specialist in
the commercialization of enzyme and fermentation technology, the two cores of industrial BT
technology, and conducts a wide range of business related to the development of scale-up
technologies for the industrialization of fundamental BTs.
Current business sectors of BEAMS Bio include CDMO (development of fermentation,
separation & purifi cation technology, sample production, commissioned researches, and
contract manufacturing),
Reagent and Chromatography columns. In particular, contract manufacturing services for
the production of gene samples and protein for non-clinical tests, as well as validation
of chromatography resin used in GMP facilities, play important roles in the development,
manufacture, and commercialization of new drugs around the world.
