Norwegian Embassy commercial section seeks Market Analyst

Innovation Norway is the Commercial Section of the Royal Norwegian Embassy in Seoul. We support and promote commercial co-operation between the Republic of Korea and Norway. Korea is Norway’s second largest trade partner in Asia. The main area of business for Norway in Korea has been related to maritime and marine sector. The commercial section will continue the support and promote these activities, but we are also expanding our portfolio to include new focus areas: clean energy, smart societies and health & welfare.

We are looking for a Market Analyst/Market Advisor with higher education and good experience from Public Relations / Market Communication. We emphasise knowledge and experience related to innovation, sustainability and one of our focus areas. In a rapidly changing world our new Marked Analyst/Market Advisor must be able to change focus and to see new opportunities in the cooperation between Norwegian and Korean businesses.

Tasks and responsibilities:

The Market Analyst will work at the Commercial Section of the Royal Norwegian Embassy in Seoul and report to the Commercial Counsellor. Work tasks include:

• Conduct market analyses, market reports and partner search in Korea for Norwegian companies and business organisations
• Organize, plan, implement and handle all aspects of project execution related to special projects, such as delegation visits, exhibitions, seminars, workshops, networking events and other meeting places between Korean and Norwegian companies
• Provide proactive advice to Norwegian companies in their internationalization and innovation activities on how to enter, establish and work in the Korean marketplace
• Follow up market- and economic development in Korea and Norway
• Network and build good relations with Korean authorities and business sectors to look for new opportunities of collaboration
• Develop market communication material, i.e. blogging, social media and other written presentations
• Participate in planning activities supervised by the Commercial Counsellor
• To promote the above activities, the Royal Norwegian Embassy, Commercial Section provides a broad range of planning tools, services and instruments. The Market Analyst shall on his/her own initiative keep himself/herself updated on these services and instruments. Team working abilities are essential in this regard.

Requirements:

• University degree (preferably MBA or MSc degree, however candidates with a good BA or BSc degrees can apply)
• At least 5 years of relevant experience from Industry, R&D, Public Sector or a combination
• Good knowledge about Korean industry, commerce and economy
• Well-developed network within Korean business sectors
• Experience from collaboration with Norwegian/Nordic/European countries is an advantage
• Fluent in Korean and English, both verbal and written
• Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) in both Korean and English
• Good presentation skills (written, speeches and presentations). Able to proactively represent Norway with authority and confidence
• Ability to be a proactive team player, but also to work independently with minimum of supervision
• Share information and knowledge with the team to contribute to an open and good learning environment
• Polite, punctual, service-minded and flexible attitude. Be able to develop new ideas and take initiatives
• Ethical and honest behaviour, with a good understanding of CSR and IPR
