Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories (SEL) seeks a professional, innovative and detailed individual for our Application Engineer - Protection position in South Korea. If you are looking for an opportunity
to apply industry-leading technology to solve power system integration and automation challenges and become recognized as an industry expert in a fast growing global company, then this position is for you!
The position will support our East Asia region and is located in our South Korea office. The engineer will provide technical support to customers applying SEL power system protection products and solutions in
electric utility and industrial markets as a protection application engineer. We are also looking for a fresh graduate student (or less then 2 years industry experience) who majored required engineering courses
with good communication ability in English. Travel is required throughout Southeast Asia for customer support, teaching, and attending conferences.

Responsibilities |
1. Develop expertise in power systems, system protection, protective relays and
their applications, settings, and testing, and all related SEL products.
2. Help customers apply SEL products through visits, demonstrations, training courses
and telephone contact.
3. Contribute to product specifications, application and testing software, and literature.
4. Participate in SEL marketing and sales activities and industry technical meetings and
conferences.
5. Teach and lead in training schools for customers and SEL personnel.
6. Continuously identify, measure, follow, and improve marketing, sales,
and engineering quality procedures.
7. Additionally, if a Team Lead, support the Regional Technical Manager, and
supervise, lead, and develop technical support staff, and serve as the point of
contact and decision-maker for your team on technical customer service and
support issues.
8. Additionally, if a Team Lead, plan, promote, and organize all territory technical
customer visits, SEL University courses, conferences, seminars,
customer technical service, and other marketing and sales activities. |
Qualifications
|
- B.S. in Electrical Engineering, equivalent degree, or equivalent work experience
- At least 5 years experience in power systems, industry practices, and system protection,
protective relays and their applications, settings, and testing
Demonstrated experience in system protection, protective relays and their applications,
settings, and testing and industry practices
Strong technical training, speaking, writing, and customer service skills
- Ability to direct daily work activities with limited supervision

- M.S. in Electrical Engineering, with emphasis in power systems, industry practices,
and system protection, protective relays and their applications, settings, and testing
- Proven expertise in a specific application or discipline
- Published application guides and technical paper at industry conference or in journal
- Experience using SEL products
