Winterthur Gas & Diesel Ltd. (WinGD) is a leading developer of two-stroke low-speed gas and diesel engines used for propulsion power in merchant shipping. WinGD's target is to set the industry standard for reliability, efficiency and environmental friendliness. WinGD provides designs, licences and technical support to manufactures, shipbuilders and ship operators worldwide. The engines and are manufactured under licence in four shipbuilding countries. WinGD has its headquarters in Winterthur, Switzerland, where, as one of the earliest exponents of diesel technology, it started the development of large internal combustion engines in 1898 under the "Sulzer" name. Today WinGD employs about 350 people worldwide.

General Manager, Operations - Korea

Responsibilities:

• Budget control WinGD Korea Operations activities 

• Define local strategy for Operations in line with global strategy, together with local staff and management team

• Key stakeholder satisfaction, customers, licensee manufacturers, suppliers and shareholder

• Strong leadership of local Operations team

• Support MD in developing, implementing and executing the country strategy complimentary to the WinGD global strategy

• Support MD in Execution of strategy and of agreed changes

• Day to day operational management of the Operations team in Korea HQ, HHI and Doosan site offices

• Represent WinGD in commercial and technical negotiations with Stakeholders as required

• Lead the Korea Operations team in all areas of activities from manufacturing support and supplier qualification to the end of design warranty

• Ensure that the key performance indicators of the Operations departments P&L are reached

• Mentor staff and provide a productive and positive working environment

• Maintain and/or improve customer perception of WinGD product and technologies

Requirements:

• BSc(Eng. / Nav.Arch.), MSc. (Eng. / Nav.Arch.), MBA, or equivalent

• Experience with 2 stroke engine technology of advantage

• Experience with engine manugacturing of advantage

• Proven ability to work under pressure

• Proven team leadership skills

• Experience in difficult customer/supplier technical discussions and negotiations
